You’re probably wondering what the title is all about. Well, I have something very exciting to tell you about today.
On sunday morning I awoke to a Facebook message request from someone whose name I didn’t recognise at all. At first I was a bit worried. How did this person find me, and what did his message say? However, I was intrigued, so perhaps rather naively, I accepted the request.
To my surprise, I saw a picture of the article I wrote for the Independent Newspaper a few months ago. However I was confused – the article I wrote had only ever been published online and the picture the mystery man had sent me was of an actual newspaper.
Confused I asked him where he found the article and he told me that it was in an Indian newspaper. I was so stunned as to what I was seeing. Had the article I had written for the Independent online really travelled thousand and thousands of miles all the way across the world? Our conversation went like this:
I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Then I received another message from some else all the way from India. They had also read my article and wanted to wish me well. I am so honoured to be recognised by two people that I have never met, let alone who live on a different continent, speak a different language and live in an almost different world!
It was such a lovely surprise to receive these messages. At first I though it could all be a mix up or a mistake. I wasn’t sure how it could have been but it was such a shock to learn that my first ever piece of journalistic writing had found it’s way across the world. The power of the internet is incredible and it never ceases to amaze me. Hopefully, this will be he first of many successes of my world wide journalism career.
I hope you are all well and that so far 2016 is going swimmingly.
Thank you for reading and see you soon.
