First of all, I have a mini life update. I took a trip to the hospital today to see the cardiologists after experiencing some funny rhythms in my heart and chest pains lately. Although it’s likely nothing to worry about, it’s always best to get things checked out, even if it’s just for peace of mind. Plus, I can’t take any risks with my new heart – especially with my exams coming up.
I had my usual array of tests including bloods, an ECHO, an ECG, and a pacemaker check. My doctor, Professor Simpson concluded that although he wasn’t really worried, he wanted me to have a 24 hour heart monitor. In fact, he thinks that perhaps the problem’s source is my pacemaker. So, we shall wait and see with the results are.
In other, far more interesting news, I attended my first ever bloggers’ event yesterday. It was The Bloggers’ Tea Party hosted by The Blogger Hangout. My friend Hannah who also blogs told me about it. Unfortunately she couldn’t make it in the end so I almost decided not to go. But I’m very glad I did. I went with my friend Alysha to what’s called the Pop Up Patio in Finsbury Square.
Squeezed into the small ‘rotational pop up restaurant’ were about eight different food and drink brands – all offering samples and information about their companies. I had a lovely time talking to the reps and tasting their products. I thought I would share my favourites with you:
The first and my number one of the day was Just Bee honey water. It’s fresh spring water infused with a single drop of honey, along with other flavours. The idea was created by two beekeepers and friends whilst in their back garden watching their family bee hives. Although it may not seem it at first glance ( I was sceptical at first) this is a really delicious and refreshing drink. As someone who has to drink a certain amount everyday because of my kidney transplant, I can really imagine drinking this on a regular basis. I love it! In fact, I’m kind of obsessed and will definitely be ordering some tonight. Click here to visit the Just Bee Drinks website.
Another of my favourites was Pic’s Peanut Butter. A simple but yummy product, it comes salty smooth or crunchy and plain smooth or crunchy. Completely additive free, it hasn’t got any of the nasty stuff that normal peanut butter contains. It’s not sickly or sweet and the perfect morning toast topper. My next pick of the day was Bio-tiful Dairy’s Cherry Kefir Smoothie. I didn’t expect to like this much, I’m not normally a fan of fruit smoothies. However, the fact that this fruit smoothie is blended with milk that has been fermented with live Kefir cultures (yes, I also have no idea what that means) made it taste different. In a way like yoghurt. It tastes different to a normal fruit smoothie and I felt that by drinking it, I was doing my body some sort of good! Click here to visit the Biotiful Dairy website.
Jake’s Boost Super Boost Spread was also one to remember. Simple but tasty, this mixed butter spread is a lovely dip for a crisp or chip of your choice. With ten different types of nuts in one jar, it’s an unusual and different taste, but definitely something I would snack on! Click here to visit the Jake’s Boost website.
Last but not least was The Cocoa Den who make hand crafted…you guessed it: CHOCOLATES (and cakes)! I tried a praline chocolate and I have to say, it was amazing. Really, really delicious. The owner of the company creates crazy and unusual combinations of flavours and places then in wonderful chocolates. Even more amazing were the incredible chocolate sculptures she had created by hand. They were wonderful and so beautiful to look at. Click here to visit the Cocoa Den website.
I hope you enjoyed reading my post and that you decide to try some of these tasty things. Thank you to The Blogger Hangout for inviting me to such a wonderful event. And thank you to all the brands I have mentioned, and the ones I have not, for letting me try your delicious products.
Lots of love,
