The Great Shave

By  2nd February 2014

Hello again,

Thanks for revisiting my blog, I really appreciate it. I am currently undergoing radiotherapy and the other day I learnt that I would lose all of my hair. Now, for most people this is news that they never want to hear, and for me my hair has always been one of my greatest joys. Plaiting, twisting and tying, no matter what, everyday I would have a different hairstyle, so as you can imagine, I sobbed when I found out my hair would disapear (as did my family). But rather than crying for 3 weeks and being miserable until my hair grows back, I’ve decided to take everything in my stride and shave my hair, before it gets the chance to fall out in clumps, and catch me by surprise.

My hair has grown quite long now, so I plan to cut it off in plaits and donate it to charity and then shave the rest off. Why not raise some money in the process? I’m hoping for sponsors so that charities can benefit from my hair loss. Not only am i doing this, my two dearest friends Katie and Hannah have insisted they would like to join me in “The Great Shave” and also raise some money for good causes. I can never begin to express how thankful I am to these two beautiful and courageous girls, they mean the world to me and I love them with all my heart.

I’m excited, but also nervous about losing my hair as its always been a big part of my life, but I know now that I’m going to have to let go. I also know that life isn’t always kind and I’m not the first to lose my locks, and i won’t be the last. I’ve just gotta make the most out of it and hopefully earns lots of money for great causes.

Pleas open your hearts and donate to either or both of the brilliant and life changing charities that have helped me for the better, without them, I would not be here today.

My JustGiving pages:

Thank you so much.
